Is this available in Free versions? #

No. Combining pre-orders + deposits requires Deposits Pro and Pre-Orders Pro.

Why do I need both Pro plugins? #

They were built separately. The compatibility to use deposits on pre-orders exists only in the Premium versions of both.

How do I set it up (quick)? #

Enable Pre-Order on the product and set the availability date. In Deposits, set type (percentage or fixed), value, and mode (mandatory/optional). Ensure the product (or variation) has Deposit enabled.

What happens to emails? #

Emails follow WooCommerce statuses. After checkout, orders often land in On-hold/Pending (unpaid). When the balance is paid near availability, the order moves to Processing/Completed and those emails are sent.

Order shows “unpaid” — is that normal? #

Yes. In this flow the order typically stays unpaid until the outstanding balance is captured at/near the availability date.

Can I choose when taxes, shipping, and fees are charged? #

Yes (Pro). You can collect them with the deposit or with the final payment.

Does it work with variable products? #

Yes. Enable Pre-Order and Deposit per product/needed variations, and set the availability date.

Can I set different deposit amounts per product/variation? #

Yes. Global settings can be overridden at the product or variation level.

What if the availability date changes? #

Update the date on the product and notify customers. The deposit remains; the balance is due on the new date.

How do cancellations/refunds work? #

Follow your store’s refund/cancellation policy for deposits. You can refund the deposit or convert it per your policy.

Any best-practice messaging on the PDP? #

Add a short note: “Reserve today with a deposit. Pay the balance when available.” Show PRE-ORDER badge and the availability date.
