Use Case: Some store owners don’t want customers to combine deposit payments with discounts, coupons, or promotional offers. With the Pro version of the Deposits plugin, you can exclude these rules to ensure profitability and avoid conflicts.
Why Exclude Discounts from Deposits #
- Prevent customers from stacking discounts with partial payments.
- Maintain control over promotional campaigns.
- Ensure deposits always secure enough upfront revenue.
How It Works #
1. Navigate to Exclusions Settings #
Go to WooCommerce → Bright Plugins → Deposit Settings → Exclusions.
Here you will find options to block discounts and promotions from being applied to deposit orders.
2. Exclude Coupons #
Enable the toggle to prevent WooCommerce coupons from being applied when the deposit option is chosen.
3. Exclude Sale Products #
You can also exclude products already on sale from using deposits. This ensures promotions don’t overlap with partial payments.
4. Customer Checkout Behavior #
When exclusions are active:
- If a customer tries to use a coupon on a deposit product, the coupon will not apply.
- Sale products will show as Full Payment Only instead of offering the deposit option.
Example #
- Product Price: $100
- Coupon: 20% discount (excluded from deposit orders)
- If the customer selects Full Payment, the coupon applies → $100 → $80.
- If the customer selects Deposit (50%), the coupon is blocked → $50 deposit required, $50 balance later.
Final Thoughts #
Excluding discounts and promotions from deposit payments ensures your store keeps profitability under control while still offering flexible payment options. This is particularly useful for:
- Seasonal campaigns, where discounts should not combine with deposits.
- High-value products, where lowering both price and upfront deposit could harm margins.
This feature is available in the Pro version of the Deposits plugin.
